Monk Bar Model Shop in York was the 2008 Bachmann Europe Plc retailer of the year. The presentation of the award was timed to coincide with the 45th anniversary of this long established family owned business, a feat well worth mentioning!

Situated in the ancient and popular city of York, the shop is next to Monk Bar, one of the four medieval gateways into the walled city, and a short walk from major tourist attractions that include York Minster and the cities museums. As the city has a long & proud association with the rail industry and it is of no surprise to find a gem of a model shop housed within its walls.
From enthusiastic visitors on days out to the National Rail Museum, to international tourists calling in to purchase souvenirs are often found frequenting the shop whilst on their sight-seeing trips to one of the great railway destinations of the world.

Kernow Model Rail Centre, 98A Trelowarren Street Camborne Cornwall, TR14 8AN
Kernow Model Rail Centre in Camborne has become the 2006 Bachmann Europe Plc retailer of the year. The presentation of the award was timed to coincide with the 5th birthday celebrations of the Cornwall based store which were held over the weekend of the 22nd September. The new E-Z Command Dynamis digital control system was demonstrated throughout the day by local Bachmann sales representative and DCC expert Tony Lowe, while other Bachmann representatives were on hand to answer the questions that the large number of visitors wished to pose.

David Haarhaus, sales and marketing manager for Bachmann Europe, said "I have been very impressed with the constant growth that Kernow Model Rail Centre has achieved. In Model Shop terms they are a youngster at just 5 years old, but their positive 'can do' attitude has quickly gained a good reputation for high quality service from both Cornish and International customers"
Kernow Model Centre have regularly commissioned exclusive items from Bachmann Europe and this year has seen two of their most popular model releases to date. A London Transport liveried Pannier Tank Engine and Guards Van. Laura Eaton, from the Bachmann Product development office said "We have to work closely with all customers who ask us to produce an item in bespoke livery for them, Kernow Model Rail Centre are always a joy to work with as the livery reference material they supply is so comprehensive and easy to follow".
Proprietor Chris Trerise said "It is a great honour to be given this award, it is due to the hard work and dedication of all members of the Kernow team, including Steve Parker and Rob Kay who could not be here today. We simply try to keep a good stock of all the items that our customers want to purchase at competitive prices and then provide quality after sales service. We feel that the large amount of repeat and regular customers that we have is vindication of this policy. Our first five years have flown past, we are all looking forward to what the next 5 years will hold".

2005
J&N Models, Louth, Lincolnshire

Neil and Jill Gladwin (from whom J&N Models gets its name) was started in 2004 as a way to get Neil away the shift patterns that he was having to work with his previous employer.
From the start J&N Models have aimed to provide their customers with a broad selection of items from all scales of the Model railway scene "By doing this we have gained a good reputation for supplying items that modellers cannot obtain from other stores" said Neil. J&N stock all products from the Bachmann Portfolio including Ott-Lite and Liliput.
2004

John‘s customers nominated the business for the friendly service and willingness to offer advice on all aspects of Railway Modelling. John started the business some 12 years ago following a long career in the Banking Industry. His model shops caters for all aspects of the Hobby trade including Model Railways, Slot Racing, Plastic Kits and Radios Control. His business has grown steadily with customer retention being a key motivation. John and his business partner Heather Wilkinson are pictured receiving the award, as voted by Bachmann Club Members, from the Bachmann Area Sales Representative Barry Wright and David Haarhaus Bachmann Sales Manager.

The award for 2002 goes to Mr Bill Lawrence of 'Transport Treasures' of Aston Clinton. Bill was nominated because of his friendly attitude and willingness to help all of his customers on all aspects of Bachmann rolling stock.
