New Scenecraft signal box "highley" promising

Bachmann Europe PLC today revealed it latest OO scale signal box model – a detailed replica of the Great Western Railway box at Highley station on the Severn Valley Railway.

The attractive model (44-044) was revealed for the first time on the steps of the full size signal box by Dave Bowker, Bachmann Sales Representative for the area. The launch coincided with the Severn Valley Railway’s popular steam gala weekend.

The line through Highley opened between 1858 and 1862 by the original Severn Valley Railway Company, which became part of the Great Western Railway in 1863. There were four collieries in the area from 1870 until the last closed in 1969, which generated considerable traffic for the railway. The current Severn Valley Railway was formed in 1965 and bought the route from British Rail in sections. It currently operates from Kidderminster to Bridgnorth and is regarded as one of Britain’s leading heritage railways and the building of the Engine House complex at Highley as seen increased usage of the station without affecting its rural charm.

Highley signal box is available from Bachmann dealers including the Severn Valley Railway. The OO scale model manufactured in resin has a recommended retail price of £22.20 and includes considerable fine detail.
