Bachmann Collectors' Club and Train Collectors Society join forces again

The Bachmann Collectors’ Club part of Bachmann Europe Plc has once again joined forces to ensure the continuation of the largest model railway exhibition in the UK which promotes the collecting and operation of all types of model railway items. The Bachmann Collectors’ Club has sponsored the last three Sandy exhibitions and ensured that this important aspect of our hobby continues to be catered for through a specialist exhibition.

The 2010 event is to be held in Sandy, Bedfordshire on Saturday July 3rd and brings together train collectors of all marques. Since it was established in 1999 it has become the leading exhibition of its type in the UK.

Encompassing a wide range of models produced over the past 100 years or so, the exhibition features operating vintage layouts in all scales, specialist traders and is supported by leading collectors clubs including those devoted to Bassett – Lowke, Hornby, Kitmaster, Tri-ang, Trix Twin and Wrenn.

David Ramsey, Chairman of the Train Collectors Society (TCS) explained “Following consultation with members and exhibitors we have decided to concentrate all our efforts on putting on a really good one day show in 2010. Increased costs across all aspects of staging the exhibition make this the only option for us and without the continued support of Bachmann we would have no alternative but to bring the event to a conclusion. The 2009 event was busy on the Saturday but much quieter on the Sunday and I am sure that exhibitors, traders and visitors will understand the rationale behind our decision”.

David continued “Bachmann, as the World’s largest manufacturer of model trains by volume first brought a new dimension to our exhibition in 2007. The Train Collectors Society recognises the importance of collecting current products in addition to those of former years. We are grateful that Bachmann share our vision”.

Dennis Lovett, Public Relations Manager for Bachmann Europe Plc said “since the Bachmann Collectors’ Club first became involved in 2007 we have seen considerable growth in the club and interest in our ever expanding range of products. By supporting the Train Collectors Society in staging this show we can showcase the very best in all model railway brands from the 1890’s to models that are still under development”.

Further details of the exhibition will be released in due course. Sandy station is served by First Capital Connect services from both London Kings Cross and Peterborough, which offers connecting services to many other parts of the country. The Train Collectors Society offer a free vintage bus link between the station and the venue. The venue, Sandy Upper School offers substantial free parking and Sandy is on the A1 trunk road.
